Figured I'd step up my game as a mod and make a little Personality Checklist. Why is that? I've seen LOTS. Of rats that either have the same exact personality(Either so nice and wouldn't hurt a fly or really violent and angry) frequently. Not only that, but it usually happens depending upon what side the rat has chosen. All of the nice, peaceful rats are on Shale's side and all of the violent ones on Blank. I think it would be A LOT more interesting if there was variety in the personalities, not only on both sides, but in general!
So first things first, what's a personality you DON'T want?
-The typical hero/nice guy/peacemaker personality:
No offense but that just gets really old, really fast. To help fix that, maybe add a few quirks to them or have trigger words that set them off! Either that, or maybe they get ridiculously enraged when a friend is being pursued or teased, and they get a bit violent and forget about words.
-The "I'M SO FRUSTRATED I COULD JUST DESTROY EVERYTHING" personality:
Ah, yes. The typical tough guy who just results in fighting. These ones bother me greatly. Seeing as they're usually members of the Freedom Fighters with Blank, I can understand why you'd want them to be a bit violent and eager to kill people. However, perhaps adding some kind of insecurity of themselves, or they use their anger to mask the fact that they actually care about people would make it a mite more interesting, oui?
-The "OH GOD THAT SHADOW'S GOING TO KILL ME" character:
Now, these characters are similar to that of the Nice Guys, but instead they're just... Dead petrified of everything that moves. My character, Yellow, could fall under that category. However, I think the fact that he's not only on Blank's side, but has some darker dreams of destroying human kind makes him a bit more interesting. (however I still don't get what's so great about him in the first place) Now I''m not saying to go copy Yellow right away, because copying characters just gets on my nerves. A lot. Perhaps try to think of something to make them not-as passive, and a bit more assertive?

Hopefully this helped a bit. Basically what I'm trying to say in short:
DO:
-Make an interesting character with a personality that stands out.
-Try to spend time on your characters.
-Try not to copy characters with interesting personalities.
DO NOT:
-Tweak one thing in an existing characters personality and throw it into another character, claiming it's your own.
-Make a "mary-sue" character with one of the common, somewhat boring personalities as stated above.
-Spend no time on the character's personality.
Hopefully this helped! I'm tempted to go and make another huge post on Mary-sues/Gary-sues now, but perhaps I'll leave that for another mod since I suck at these anyway. Hehe.
