Hey guys! Tech here! First I am going to explain the point of this thread.
I will address many points here that have to do with creating a character and roleplay posts. I will conitnue to add more stuff here as I come across more questions and important information.
Detailed Posts
When I get online and feel like joining a thread, I like to glance over them, see what's going on and how things are going as well as who's using which character, but lately I have noticed really sloppy posts. This is a roleplay, so the point is to type it out, explain what is going on, how your character feels, and anything else you can add!
I often go on forums with huge word minimums, so I am used to making longer posts. I am not the best, not by a long shot, but I do consider myself fairly good. In this thread I will list some post exercises, just some simple ones, and you can try them out on your own, or even reply to this if you aren't sure if you did it correctly. Feel free to do so, I don't mind looking over them! If you still feel you need some work, just tell me and I can pm you and we can work on it from there.
First Exercise:
Choose a character of yours. Imagine they find themself in a maze. Make a post and explain every aspect of what they can smell, feel, touch, bear, and even taste. Make this at least 150 words.
Second Exercise:
Choose a character. Imagine they are thrown in a fighting ring. Explain how they feel. Include thoughts and fears, but do not explain them getting attacked. This is a single moment, and in a real thread you wouldn't be able to God mod for other's characters. Make this at least 150 words.
Exercise Three:
Choose a character. Imagine their closest friend/relative just died right in front of them. Explain how they feel. Include thoughts. At least 150 words.
Those are all of them for now. Its best to either choose a character you are used to, or one you would like to use more. Once again, feel free to post your exercises here and I can check them out, or even use them in threads!
Mine:
One
Elizabeth's green eyes fluttered open, her breath coming out in shallow ragged gasps. She shook from the very core of her bones, as if she were surrounded by ice, she sure felt like it. Elizabeth stood up,b barely able to maintain it. Her gaze traveled down the long corridor that seemed to split off randomly. She was confused. Where was she?
She had never done any teating before, she had become pregnant shortly after arriving, and it seemed that they would not test on her because of that. As she stepped forward, her swollen belly prominent, it was obvious the scientists wouldn't have that problem for long. From the size, Elizabeth knew it was a large litter, and she felt nothing but fear. Not for herself, but for the small miracles that she would bring hot this well.
Roleplaying A Rat
A common question that occurs is something along the lines of "How do I roleplay as a rat?"
Rats are different than humans, not just physically but in there ways of expression.
Rats don't blush like we do, if your character is embarassed you could explain their fur heating up.
Example
Elizabeth glanced away, her fur heating up in embarassment for the sudden change of conversation. She wasn't used to being complimented, and the idea of her being pretty shocked her into silence.
See, pretty simple, right?
Next, try to mix things up. Don't always say they smiled or frowned. Try tot hink of what the animal would do. Flick their tail, draw back their ears, so on so forth.
Example
Eli curled his tail in delight, it was always nice having someone to talk to. Suddenly, his face dropped. He crouched down, slitting his sightless blue eyes and perking up his ears, alert for any sound. Something was coming.
Again, simple things like that give your posts detail and really make it more fun for everyone encluded in the thread!
Animals That Are Tested On
The first thing to keep in mind are our uses for them. It is cruel, but people have made up reasons to use them.
The animals are almost always genetically similar to us. Rats are as close to us as primates are, therefore humans can test things on them and get results that would be similar to those from a person.
Animals that are included are rats, cats, guinea pigs, birds that would be kept as pets, primates, and really any type of rodent. There are exceptions, just PM a staff member if you have any questions.
