Nynx raised a brow, taking another glance at the vent. That was the same airway that the two had come through, wasn't it? What had changed her mind this time? "Unfortunately, news is negative here, mon ami." He responded expressionless, eyes glancing around the current room. "I do not have high hopes of finding such a way, wish not. Luck is granted that it was manageable to find the route that you did through vent contraption. Eyeing another way however...?" He chose his words carefully, not willing to push anyone to do anything that they decided against. Nynx flattened his ears, smelling for any negative tension that would come from the whitecoats. The air always stiffened when the fleshy creatures had arrived, almost like a warning of sort for him.

LABRATT was quickly losing patience.She nudged Doublo harshly toward the vent using sparks from her wires.This startled Doublo down the hole and she landed with a thud to the bottom. Doublo looked up,glaring at her kin. LABRATT had a pleased look on her face,flicking her tail at Nynx. "Should I go next?"

Nynx shrugged as best as his anatomy would allow him, glancing down at the glaring Doublo. "If you would like. Difference wouldn't be involved in the equation." He then shifted his gaze to the bird. "And you?"

The crow tilted her head,staring back at him."Hm,I think I'll go last,"She cawed in her crackily voice. LABRATT crouched down and leaped into the vents without a worry,landing with a soft thud on the bottom next to Doublo.

Nynx nodded at the crow, glancing down the vent. It wasn't as steep of a drop as he had imgined, nothing that would cause him much stress getting down, anyways. His claws taped on the material as he prepared for the jump. The bi-colored rodent skidding to a stop behind the two does, staring ahead at the dark hallway-like road that they had yet to travel. It was a bit colder down here than he expected, with a slight breeze that reminded him of the outside, except he knew it wasn't wind, it didn't have a natural feel to it. He flattened his ears slightly, glancing back up the vent. Either way, it didn't seem too likely that there was a way up from down here.

The crow fluttered down,a few stray feathers feom her unkept pelt dropping softly to the ground with her.She looked at all the other creatures. Doublo scratched at the bandages on her waist,she was sure the wounds of the syringes were healed by now because she was no longer sore and the blood on the white cloth was a brownish-red and smelled of rot.The rodent looked over at LABRATT and Nynx with the metal in their heads. Oh no, Doublo thought. They won't be able to fit in! LABRATT looked at the black-eyed rodent."What's wrong with you she snarled,bicolored eyes fixed in a glare that could shoot down the largest creature.

Lewis flattened his small, beige ears against the gasping of the other rats in the bleak confinement, pressing himself into a corner in a delirious attempt to ignore their pain. The buzzing, the low static buzzing increased in volume and grinded against his brain, sending tremors throughout his body, as his stress levels rose. Thats exactly what the whitecoats were monitoring, he had deduced long ago. They were experimenting with his empathy and recording his stress levels as the pain, the pain of the rats around him grew. Lewis pressed himself low to the ground, centering himself, then asked the rat closest to him, "How strong, how strong is it this time?". He tended to double-phrase more frequently when he was anxious.

{ I'll get another rat for you, lewis }
Feri tilted her head at him. She didn't understand him. "How strong is what?" The brown-speckled rodent asked, red eyes wide. Her tail twitched and she began to think of what the scientists told her before....What did she have again? Twixopizza Goodeye? Oh well,it didn't seem to harm her anyway. She just felt...braver. Much, much braver. Not afraid of anything. She waited for them to pick her up, waited for them to test on her again because she wasn't scared anymore. { she actually has something called "Toxoplasma Gondii",which is a parasite that makes rats "braver",which gets them eaten by cats,birds,and other predators. }

( Ahhh that's so cool! Lewis is being tested to gain a deeper understanding of rats empathy) "The pain, how strong is the pain this time?" Lewis asked. His tail twitched and he shuddered, moving around and practically twisting himself in knots. The mechanical buzzing peaked for a moment, then subsided. It seemed as though communicating with another rat lowered his stress levels a bit. "Are you, are you new to this?" he asked bitterly, double-phrasing in his nervousness.

Nynx perked his ears, momentarily tuning out from the two's conversation. Those had to be voices up there, someone was awake. The crimson-eyed rodent stared up at the entrance that they had come from. It was usually quiet room 158. He didn't feel guilty that they had left other rats behind when they even knew about it, but confused. The silenced rat was about to tell the two does to stay quiet, but decided against it. He learned not to get his own words involved in other's arguments, it never ended up well.

{ thank you uvu.your rat is pretty cool too! }
Feri looked around at the others, eyes wide."I-I don't know,"She bashfully concluded, tail twitching. She wasn't used to talking to other rats, she was moved here as soon as the Scientists said her weird 'sickness' was no longer contagious.
LABRATT didn't pay any attention to them, she was just set on knowing why Doublo was staring at her and Nynx so strangely.Her fur bristled as the wires trailing from her head to her lower neck began to spark, but she seemed to not notice. Doublo's shocked stare didn't falter as she simply stated,"N-nothing,"She gulped."nothing at all."The bi-colored rat blinked.Doublo looked away and began to gnaw at the bandages on her abodomen, trying to avoid all eye contact with the two. The crow tilted her head and looked at Nynx again, blinking her yellow eyes."You never caught on my name did you?"She said, emphasizing the 'cau' in her 'caught'.

Nynx glanced at Doublo, hearing LABRATT's words. He got quite alarmed at the angered sparks that were born from the wires implanted in the doe's head, knowing that it wouldn't end up well if it got to full charge, seeing the material that surrounded the group. Nynx knew what it was like- it wasn't easy to control the brain activity that sparked the reaction. He had learned to contain the emotions such as anger or sadness in order to hold back the danger of what could happen. This was why he was often so submissive and docile. He turned towards the odd accent of the crow, shaking his head no. "I'm afraid I must respond in the negative, feathered friend. I have not."

"Oh,"The crow tilted its head in another position."The name is Xarax,"She said, preening her ruffled feathers. LABRATT rolled her eyes and looked away from the other doe, sparks coming to a stop. Her fur, unfortunately, was stuck in a britsled position, so she looked quite fluffy. Doublo was finally able to tear the bloody bandage off,sniffing at where her wound used to be.

"Welcome then," Lewis purred, a bitter undertone in his voice. He had caught the hesitation in the rat's voice and assumed that she was just shy. "I am referred to by comrades as Lewis and I'm positively aching to know your own name, unusual new visitor." He was somewhat proud that he had not double-phrased at all during his introduction, and thought that perhaps his habit was getting better. The albino rat's tail flicked as it suddenly occurred to him that the buzzing, the numbing, grinding buzzing had faded away. The test had been completed. Lewis would likely be transported back to his cage soon.

"That is a very pleasant name." He replied with a smile, dipping his head in the usual manner as he introduced himself. "You can call me Nynx." The rodent spoke casually. Nynx glanced back the the black-and-white doe, flinching as the bandage had detached itself from the rat as if he expected something bad to happen. He almost expected blood to began oozing out, but he recovered when he realized that there was nothing to be afraid of. The half-hooded rat was tempted to ask Doublo if the wound was healed, but from his view it seemed fine, only dried blood if anything. He decided not to worry about it. "Pardon me if I sound rude, but is there reason that we are halted?"
