Well poopy I don't know how I'm just now seeing this since it was posted before I left rial, and I know I'm one of those bat characters you mentioned. It doesn't really matter to me if I was the one you said was reasonable, cuse I realized on my own during my time away that Sickle was stupid. One of the first things I did upon coming back was pull her, because I realized how strange she was. I might or might not try to revamp her, but if I do give her character another shot she'd be SERIOUSLY changed. Just to let you know your message was received. ~

I must admit I have seen this thread before, and felt a little guilty after reading it because I think Nynx might have been one of those rats that stretch the rules a bit XD I know I wasn't /mentioned/ in here (because this thread was made before I had even joined) but I immediately recognized that I needed to change something. Well, Nynx is not a 'wired' rat, but he does have a rod through his head and does have some powers that came with it. At first, he had the ability to probably destroy the whole lab with a single shock if he really wanted to XD, and then I thought for a few days, trying to think of a way to make him less of a 'mary sue' or whatever the male term is for it as I can't seem to remember right now??? Gary stud? *shrugs* Anyways, first off, it /was/ meant for the whitecoats to study telepathy, although failed and had given him some sort of electrical powers. I've decided to not change that part of it, but just simplify it a little bit by making it so that he could only use his power if it had a current to run through (And, he is held in a plastic-type cage, so it's really not possible for there to be one.) /and/ threw in the fact that he doesn't even want to use it in the first place since he has developed and matured a LOT since he was given the skill. And now the whitecoats have decided to take use of it and test him to study hacking data and systems (don't worry, Nynx can /not/ hack the lab system, the whitecoats are not that dumb) with his ability so that it wasn't just there with no purpose. And also, in case that wasn't enough, his power is also drained little by little every time he does anything with it, even though he doesn't know this. Uhhh... well... okay so perhaps he still does kinda stretch the rules? Maybe i'll just let you guys see for yourself XD ratsinalab.proboards.com/thread/1025/nynx-subject-73 I would have gotten rid of his power completely had it not been for the fact that it just wouldn't seem like Nynx anymore, plus he had been my character for years and I tried not to change him too much. Do you guys think this is okay? And if not, what could I do to make it a bit better (other than eliminate his power completely just yet) ? I actually /want/ to save my character instead of being forced to get rid of it, and would love to improve him!

Personally the idea of him causing electric shocks when a current is run through the rod seems reasonable to me, especially if it's a power he usually refuses to use. I honestly think things like that are more about execution than how much power a character actually has. You have to understand, this article was written during a time when this forum was very big, and there was very little regulation. At the time we had rats with wings and a bird who could literally pull a potion to fix anything out of thin air running around. We had people digging tunnels to escape, setting the lab on fire and literally killing whitecoats. THATS the sort of stuff we were discussing for the most part. I don't think there's anything wrong with Nynx. You write him very balance in my opinion.

Okay, thank goodness XD I've been worrying about that for the past year or so. I'm glad to hear that he seems alright, then ^^' As for him intentionally using his power for bad, I think the only rat that he has ever hurt (in rp, at least) was his cage mate, and that was when he was just starting out, so no problem there! And yes, there doesn't seem to be as many troubles with the characters these days, they all seem pretty evened out with what they are tested on and the powers they have. It's funny how we learn more about our characters from studying the more advanced ones. When I joined though, this site was pretty much dead XD
