Hey guys! It's me again! Jasminebutmynameisntactuallyjasmine!
This is a rant about the things I've seen people doing on this site that make me want to scream.
This is your last chance to leave before I start cussing. .___.
Alright! Let's start with characters!
Fucking characters.
So, there's that "whitecoat helper" thing. As far as I know, there are two people here with those kind of characters. Personally, I think it stretches the rules quite a bit, but one of these two doesn't let it go too far.
The other person, though... This person's characters are preeetty overpowered, and the excuse is, "she's small."
She's small? She's fucking SMALL. That is a pathetic excuse to have a character that can throw rats across the room and that kind of shit. Like, really? REALLY. ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS.
Also, what's with the healer rats? Why the hell would scientists make a rat able to heal other test subjects? And with what exactly? Just unwrap a bandage and pull something out, slap it on, and bam, they're healing? Dafuq?
Rats with wings. I've only seen one of these in recent times, and thankfully Tanzy set the person straight, so not too much trouble there. But I do have to ask, why? WHY slap wings on a rat? Why would someone do it in real life and why would someone decide to wing their character? Because it looks cool?
Those little things I've seen like retractable claws, way too many robotic parts and those kinds of things, why? There's no reason people would do these things to help HUMANS. It just makes your characters look cool, but some people know it just makes you look like a douche!
Now before you go calling me a hypocrite with my crow character and all that, keep in mind that these scientists have humans' needs in their heads when doing their tests.
Ishak, my crow character, is subject to intelligence tests. The scientists have two reasons; one, it's out of curiosity. Two, if crows prove intelligent enough, they could be used in everyday life as some sort of helper thing, or something like that. You can believe what you want to believe. Sounds weird, but who knows! And besides, the time setting of this role-play is not determined. Some time in the future, probably, but how long? It could be decades, or just a few years! I like to imagine it as a time when things are a bit more advanced, but living creatures could still prove helpful, and not to be completely replaced by machines.
Also, with other different animals. There are two bats, and a bearded dragon. Two of the three, in my opinion, were made by brilliant role-players, and are reasonable characters. Personally I think one of these two is beyond just reasonable. The real life (idontreallywanttousethiswordbut) excuse for the character is a good one, and the role-player never makes it too powerful or tries to spotlight it. With the other one, it's about the same, but I haven't seen the character's bio so I'm not quite sure of I can say the same about the background but it's probably good as well...? With the last one of the three, it's decent, doesn't overpower or anything, but the person could improve quite a bit, though she's not bad. I haven't seen much of a backstory, but you can't have everything, I guess?
Alright, that's enough on that.
However, one added note. I've seen two characters with wires in their heads. I'm not sure if these make the rats have powers similar to Blank's, and if they do I get the feeling they weren't ok'd by a mod, but I can't be certain about that. Maybe they're just random wires, I don't know. Since theses characters have. No. Bio.
Post length. Role-play quality.
UUUGH. Fucking three word long posts! There is a very small number of role-players I've seen with an average post length of four, maybe five words? Hardly ever goes past one line. And these people roleplay in LOTS of threads, so I see them everywhere. And then, one of these people has, what, at least six characters? And no bios for any of them, last time I checked. Their personalities are very unclear - the little bit in the signature does not explain much! Seriously, if you're going to have the most characters of all the active users on the site, at least make an effort to make them good.
Anyway, the short posts. These posts give you barely ANYTHING to work off of!
I can understand if you're busy and can only do a short post every once in a while or something, but tiny posts EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME?! NO! Just no!
Now, I want to talk about maybe a way to fix these things.
Maybe it wouldn't be a horrible idea to make it a rule that you have to make bios. A few people could check them, and talk with the mods to make sure they're ok. If they aren't, either the checking people or a mod could pm the person who's bio needs fixing or something like that.
I'd be willing to help out with that.
We could do something similar with moderating post lengths - some people could check up on recent threads and see how the people there are faring. It's actually not that hard, just go under New Topics and go from there. Seriously, I used to check out other people's threads just to see what they were up to.
Again, I could help out with that sort of thing. A couple people I'd recommend would include Rust, christywoowoo (though I know she hasn't been here for as long as, say, the veteran role-players, she's still a good role-player, and fairly active)... I have a few other veteran role-players in mind, but I don't know if they'd be on enough to do these things...
Well, I don't know! These things would be up to Flighty and the mods, I guess!
Wow, you actually read the entire thing? High five! Woo!
Uh...
Yeah...
I'll just...
Leave now.
